Educational programme


The Virtual Classroom for Social Work in Europe (VIRCLASS) offers social work students and professional social workers from all over Europe the possibility to participate in eLearning courses in Comparative Social Work.The Educational programme of 15 ECTS credits has been run for two years, and students from up till 15 countries in Europe have participated in the courses. The courses have been highly evaluated by the participating students.

Since April 2007 a VIRCLASS Consortium is established and the courses is from now on financial supported by the Consortium partners and offered as optional courses to students in these institutions.

Who can apply and what does it cost?

Target group

The target group for the Programme is social work students undertaking bachelor's programmes in theri second, third or fourth year. The Programme is open to students at postgraduate levels and professinals who are interested in getting a European/international perspective on social work issues and subjects. The academic level of the Programme is undergraduate.


  • Students from the partner institution will be given priority to participate in the course for free.
  • 10 study places are dedicated social work students from East-European countries/partners from the SW-VirCamp project. Scholarships can be applied.
  • Other students have to pay 1200  EURO for 15 ECTS credits when the courses starts and will be offered student place depending on the number of applicants.

The final application date is: 21. September 2009.
